The phone rings in the middle of the night!

It is your Mother's neighbor calling to tell you she fell and was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. Or perhaps your sister just called to tell you Dad  was just diagnosed with early stage dementia or worse, Alzheimer's.   What if your husband is going in for open heart surgery, the doctor's have told you he is a high risk patient,  and you wonder what you can  do to be prepared? As a family member who cares, what do you do if you live in another state, another country, hours away and feeling helpless? Or your job is so demanding you can't just leave and fly somewhere to help?

What you  need to know is that there are many things you can do NOW to be more prepared!  I  can help you  before a crises develops.  There are so many things you can do to   take charge of your life and help you or your parents face the future with some peace of mind that whatever happens you have done everything you can to mitigate a crises.  Having a plan and anticipating some of the inevitable  health challenges  of aging could mean the difference between aging gracefully and a true nightmare. I realize you cannot anticipate everything, but you can know where to look for help and what resources are available to you.

With 76 million people born between 1946 and 1964,  countless numbers of people are dealing with aging themselves, or aging parents who are experiencing complex problems and health issues.  The world of senior healthcare can be overwhelming and I was inspired to start  my blog and write my book by the thousands of families I have personally worked with in my 24 years  in senior living. My hope is that my book, Navigating Your Parents Senior Years; How to Help Them and Yourself  will become a resource guide for you and your family.
